EU Regulation 2024/1689 obliges operators of AI systems from August 2026 to fully document all deployed AI components, maintain a verifiable risk management system, and be transparent with authorities and those affected. High-risk AI additionally requires conformity assessments and registration. Fines: up to €35M or 7% of global annual turnover.
